THE CHALLENGES

The Thai Roong Ruang Sugar Group (TRR) is a leading sugar manufacturer and exporter in Thailand, and has the longest experience in sugar production in the country. At present, the Group owns and operates a total of 7 sugar factories and 7 realated business. Electricity Generation is one of their key business since the 24 hr power supply is needed to support their refineries. Utilizing their baggasse waste stream as an engergy resouce nicely complements this business.

The Baanrai Electricity Generating plant is located near their sugar mill, allowing ecomomic fuel trasportation. The power produce is used internally and the cyclical surplus can be sold to the grid. This project is developed underthe Thai Government’s VSPP reneable energy campaign.
